For as late as up until the 1980's Azerbajdzjan was seen as one of the most unreached countries for the gospel in the world. Azerbaijan is part of a region which had many Christians before the rise of islam. In 1994 Christian Åkerhielm was part of a big evangelistic outreach in this country and got to see many people turn their lives to Christ and a new movement rise up.
