#282: Somerton Park

from 1912 Exiles

TWO IMPORTANT NOTES!As Jack says at the start, this episode is best consumed visually so you can see the slides we're discussing. You can watch the video version here.If you prefer to listen, then you can still view the slides either on LinkedIn or on Facebook. This is another summer special episode, where we fulfil a long-held ambition to do a ground guide to Somerton Park - arriving from Cromwell Road, entering through the turnstiles behind the Main Stand, and then doing a lap of the ground, taking in the sights and smells. To help us along the way, we have keen County historian Chris Shingler, curator of the legendary Newport County AFC Nostalgia group on Facebook, and a slew of great photos and archive materials to guide us. Chris is joined by semi-regular host and constant curmudgeon Jack, who asks the naive questions as someone too young to have experienced the ground for himself, whilst regular panellist Ian Street chips in with some memories of his own. Thanks to everyone who helped bring this very special episode together. As always, do check out our website for all the pod info you need, and drop us a line on the socials if you have anything to tell us. Our theme tune is the original 1973 recording of Come On The County - and we are brought to you in association with our friends at the Riverside Sports Bar.Until next time, look after yourselves and each other, and above all Keep It County. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
