He practiced in Michigan for 2 years prior to moving to California in 1980. Palazzolo then worked at the Sun Surf Animal Hospital in Sunset Beach, California from 1980-1985 and then relief work from 1985-1989. He received his MBA in 1985 from Pepperdine and in 1989, purchased the Long Beach Animal Hospital. He sold that practice at the end of 2018. Palazzolo has been in private practice for 46 years and taught conservation medicine and wildlife digital photography since the first trip to Africa in 1986. He is also an author of PULSE digital photography articles since 2015
