2844: NATIONWIDE: Peace Monitor Chief Calls for Urgent, Funded Plan from South Sudan's Extended Transitional Government

The Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (RJMEC) is calling on the Transitional Government to present a comprehensive, well-funded action plan with specific timelines and priorities to restore confidence and mobilize support from regional and international partners. RJMEC Chair, Major General Charles Tai Gituai, has expressed concern over the slow progress in implementing South Sudan's peace roadmap, which led to the recent two-year extension of the transition period, pushing elections to December 2026.
