29 - Interview With Heather from Petagogy

Toni and Emily are talking with Heather from Petagogy! There are two Petagogy locations, one in Shadyside and the other in Greensburg. Heather shares her story about how Petagogy started, the family it has created, and their continued journey to serving pets healthy food in Pittsburgh, PA.     Toni and Emily talk to Heather about the pet industry and how it has developed over the years. She talks about some of the changes over the years, what excites her, and what she looks forward to seeing and changing in this industry. It is a heavily male-dominated field, therefore, having strong women who are successful in the independent pet retail space is important to celebrate and focus on! Furthermore, the increased acceptance of raw and fresh food for pets in this industry has grown instrumentally, and the women talk about how they are excited about that and the vast options out there for dog and cat owners. Secondly, Toni and Emily talk to Heather about different customer experiences they have had and shared. They talk about how they approach talking to customers about adding fresh food and ingredients to their dogs bowls, even if that just means some fruits and veggies that are already in the home. They talk about the importance in gaining customer trust, when it comes to talking about health and wellness and not having a veterinary degree. There is so much to anecdotal evidence, and trial and error for digestion, skin, coat, hip, and joint, etc. Finally, Toni, Emily, and Heather talk about their favorite products, supplements, and foods that they sell and recommend to customers. They have a fun time sharing stories about how they use their favorite products for their pets and how customers have reported back with success.
