29. Midnight Sun Chapters 18 & 19

In which Samantha and Bethanie discuss chapters 18 & 19 of Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer. Chapter 18 Summary: “Mind Over Matter”Bella and Edward grow closer as Edward shares stories about his past, the Cullen family, and other vampires. Back at Bella’s house, Edward admits he has been watching Bella sleep, while the two confess their love and discuss the challenges of their relationship. In Chapter 19, Edward asks Bella to meet his family, though Rosalie remains upset about Bella risking her humanity. Bella visits the Cullens’ home, where most of the family warmly welcomes her and Alice foresees possible futures for Bella as a vampire. During the visit, Edward also explains Carlisle’s history and warns Bella about unfamiliar vampires arriving nearby.Chapter 19 Summary: “Home”Edward decides to introduce Bella to his family, though Rosalie strongly opposes Bella giving up her human future. Despite Rosalie’s concerns, the rest of the Cullens are excited to meet Bella, and Alice still sees possible futures where Bella becomes a vampire. Bella nervously agrees to visit the Cullens and admits she wants to be with Edward forever. At the Cullen house, Bella meets Carlisle, Esme, Alice, and Jasper, while Rosalie and Emmett stay away.
