#29 Pelvic Floor Tightness and Hypertonicity

from Guts and Girl Bits · host Alison Mitchell

Pelvic floor tightness, pelvic floor dysfunction, or hypertonicity of the vagina is when the muscles of the pelvic floor are too tight. This can cause pelvic pain for women that just doesn't seem to make sense. They might experience pain during intercourse (vaginismus), pain in relation to going to the toilet (1s and 2s), IBS and period pain that doesn't get better with other treatment. These issues can be due to a tightness in one of the muscles of the pelvic floor, something which a women's physiotherapist is able to help with. In this episode I chat with women's physio Brooke Hile @thingsdownthere about all things related to pelvic hypertonicity.
