29. When Mother’s Day Is Hard!

from Mamaste with Tanika Ray

“You can learn to become your own best parent” As a mom, there is mourning for what you are providing your children that you didn’t get from your own parents, but we can learn to become our own best parent when we take action towards healing our inner child.Today, I’m doing a solo episode about how it’s important for us moms to mother ourselves. Do you tend to keep yourself busy and distracted so you don’t have to address the trauma from your own childhood? Ignoring the pain doesn’t make it go away, it just allows it to continue to grow bigger and bigger. Addressing and uncovering childhood trauma is incredibly difficult and can bring up confusing emotions, but it will ultimately lead you to becoming a better mother for your own children. Tune in and listen to episode twenty-nine of Mamaste with Tanika Ray. I talk about the deep and emotional inner work that I have been focusing on and what I have learned about mothering myself. I share the realizations I have had about my complex relationship with my own mother, books that have changed my perspective on motherhood, what I do when I am triggered, and so much more. In This Episode, You Will Learn:How I spent Mother’s Day (4:31)To connect with your inner child as a mother (07:19)About the book Mother Hunger and how it has completely shifted my perspective on motherhood (13:23)Why I turn to self-isolation when I am triggered (18:51)The two different ways we mother our children (24:25)Resources MentionedBook - Mother HungerBook - Happy DaysLet’s Connect!WebsiteFacebookInstagramYouTubeTwitter Hosted on Acast.
