291. Canada 95% Renewable by 2050 - NREL Study
from Green Energy Futures · host David Dodge
90-95% of Canada’s NEW electricity generation, between now and 2050, will come from wind and solar energy says a five-year North American Renewable Integration Study (NREL) undertaken by Canada and the US. The study says Canada can have a reliable grid, powered by up to 95% renewable energy and electricity prices actually decline over time. This will mean 10-fold increases in wind power and an 18-fold increase in solar generation with virtually all new development coming from solar and wind. We talk to Phil McKay of the Canadian Renewable Energy Association that co-chaired a Canadian stakeholder group in the study.
