sun glazed morning the sea has receded trees no longer poke through the backyard mirror my flimsy raft at rest wedded to the hillside once again so this is how it is the rising and falling again and again i can’t stop my fascination with it i am consumed by its aggressive and ceaseless repetition i throw myself in and out of it unable to lose my hold on my own ability to make up my mind as if i have a choice there is nothing else there is only this drink up starfish drink up you’re running dry the tides will roll in and away before you know it we are flotsam and jetsam each of us wait in low tidepools slowly dissolving in the sun epw 2.9.08 perrysburg, oh
