#297 World War 3, The CIA, and Money Laundering

from And Another Thing with Dave · host Dave Smith

In this episode: I am joined by Pink and Blue, Sam, Josey, and Dave Wick, from the Stereo app.  Follow me on Stereo   -    www.stereo.com/andanotherthing We go deep down the rabbit hole of the corruption of 3 letter agencies and the potential for World War 3. It is funny/not funny how wherever the CIA is operating, there seems to be a problem with drug smuggling. The CIA learned under the Kennedy administration that if they want to carry out the black ops without interference from the government, they need to raise their own funds. The CIA is not happy with the ridiculous amount of money bestowed upon them by the taxpayers of the United States, so they engage in nefarious activities to raise money so they can fund operations with no governmental oversight. The Iran Contra scandal was a prime example of this. This was really 2 scandals in one and named to deceive the public. Congress refused to fund the CIA's covert operations, so the CIA engaged in cocaine smuggling to raise the funds needed for their operations. Directly opposing the wishes of congress, the CIA sent weapons to Iran in the hopes to delay the release of U.S. hostages taken following a CIA led coup to overthrow the democratically elected leader of Iran. The second part of the scandal involved the CIA funding a rebel group in Nicaragua called the Sandinistas which was fighting to overthrow the democratically elected socialist leaning government of Nicaragua. All of this was paid for by the CIA arranging for cocaine to be smuggled into the United States and sold to U.S. citizens.  The program was overseen by ex-CIA and current vice president, George Bush Sr. The cocaine was flown into Mena Arkansas, where Bill Clinton was governor. The drugs were then distributed to 10 major U.S. cities where street gangs carried out the retail sales. The overabundance of cheap cocaine is what led to the crack epidemic. Gary Webb a reporter for the San Jose Mercury News broke the story. Link to his book below.
