The son of actor James Brolin, he began his career in the mid-1980s with a breakout role in The Goonies (1985). After a period of lower-profile projects, Brolin reemerged strongly in the 2000s with acclaimed performances in No Country for Old Men (2007), W. (2008), and Milk (2008), earning an Academy Award nomination for the latter.
