Good evening. Maine. I'm DJ Huzz. Folks, that little dusting of snow this morning? Just a warmup act. The real headliner arrives tonight. Arctic air plunging south behind a cold front. and this one means business. In the next 24 hours. Right now we're sitting around 34 degrees. Enjoy that number. You won't see it again for a couple days. Once skies clear tonight and those winds keep howling, temperatures go into freefall. Portland drops to 3 degrees. Augusta hits 1. Push north to Bangor and you're at minus 8. The Western Mountains bottom out near minus 9. and Aroostook County? MinU S One1. That's the kind of cold where your nostrils stick together. Wind chill is where this gets dangerous. By early Monday. Portland feels like minus 7. Bangor feels like minus 14. The County. MinU S Two4. A Cold Weather Advisory kicks in up north from 1 A.M. To 7 A.M. Frostbite in 10 minutes on exposed skin. Cover everything if you're heading out. Monday brings brilliant sunshine but don't let it fool you. Highs barely crack the teens up north, mid 20s along the coast. Your car will start. Eventually. Now the plot twist. Tuesday, southwest winds flip the script. Temperatures jump into the upper 30s. That's a 30 degrees swing from Monday morning. but a coastal low sneaks in Tuesday night bringing 1 to 3 inches of snow. Could make Wednesday's commute slippery, so keep that in mind. The back half of the week turns milder and messy. 40s by Wednesday and Thursday, with mixed rain and snow rolling through Thursday night into Friday. One bright spot to hold onto. We're gaining nearly 3 minutes of daylight every single day. Maple sugaring season is just two weeks out. Winter's grip is loosening. Just not tonight.
