Good afternoon. Maine. I'm DJ Huzz. Folks, that Arctic front that blew through overnight? It left the door wide open for Canadian air to come pouring in. Northwest winds gusting to 25 miles an hour are the delivery truck. and the cargo. Is some of the coldest air we've seen all season. In the next 24 hours. Right now, light snow is dusting Portland and the coast. Nothing major. A coating at most before it wraps up around 1 P.M. Bangor and Downeast, just scattered flurries. Pretty to look at. Easy to drive through. Tonight is the real story. This is when the bottom falls out. Portland drops to 6 degrees. Wind chills hit minus 4. Head up to Bangor and you're at minus 4 actual, wind chills near minus 13. That kind of cold finds every crack in your house. The Western Mountains sink to minus 6, feeling like minus 17. and up in The County. Minus 9. Wind chills approaching minus 20. A Cold Weather Advisory kicks in for northwest Aroostook and northern Somerset from 1 A.M. To 7 A.M. Monday. Frostbite on exposed skin in under 30 minutes. Cover everything. Monday brings sunshine but don't be fooled. Highs barely crack the teens up north, mid 20s down south. Now the plot twist. Tuesday, temperatures jump into the mid 30s. but a coastal low sneaks in Tuesday night with one to three inches of snow. Wednesday morning commute could be slick. By Wednesday afternoon though, we're pushing into the 40s. and by Saturday? Near 50 degrees. That's a 35 degrees swing from tonight's lows to next weekend. Classic March in Maine. Today's high of 31 is 9 degrees below normal for March 1st. Winter's still got its hooks in. Bring those pets inside tonight. Your pipes will thank you too.
