3/1 Puerto Rico Weather: Rain

from The Puerto Rico Weather Podcast

Good morning. Puerto Rico. I'm Aaron Jolly. The Azores High is cranking up the breeze machine today. That big Atlantic high-pressure system is pumping southeast winds across the island. and it's dragging moisture with it. We're starting at 74 degrees under mainly clear skies, but don't let that fool you. In the next 24 hours. Metro San Juan wakes up to scattered showers before 9 A.M. Then the sun muscles through. You'll hit 82 degrees with east-southeast winds gusting to 26 miles an hour. Tonight? More showers drift in under mostly cloudy skies. Lows hold steady at 75 degrees. Head down south to Ponce and the southern coast. You're heating up to 88 degrees. Just a slight chance of an isolated shower before 3 P.M. Winds gust as high as 31 miles an hour down there — hold onto your hat. Tonight brings a few spotty showers with lows near 73 degrees. Out west in Mayaguez, scattered showers pop up around midday with a high of 86 degrees. Winds stay calmer at 7 to 12 miles an hour. Tonight turns clear and cooler, dropping to 69 degrees. Tomorrow the moisture surge arrives. Rain chances jump island-wide. Temperatures stay warm — 82 in San Juan, 88 in the south, 85 in the west. Here's your week ahead. Breezy to windy conditions persist straight through Saturday. Winds actually strengthen by midweek. Expect passing showers each day, especially mornings and afternoons. They'll move fast thanks to those gusty winds. In Beach warning, moderate rip current risk continues all week, increasing to high risk by late week. Skip unguarded beaches. One bright spot — we're gaining over a minute of daylight each day now. Spring equinox is just two and a half weeks away. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. Stay safe, stay prepared. and enjoy the day.
