This episode is a part II dedicated to understanding the sleep stages. If you haven’t done so yet, I urge you to listen to part I titled “2 Powerful Ways to Increase Your REM Sleep” so you get an understanding of the difference. Despite a better understanding of the genetic, physiological and environmental factors involved in the sleep-wake regulation, many people still don’t get enough sleep—in fact, as many as one-third are not sleep enough, according to the National Sleep Foundation. One potential reason is the public’s lack of information or even misinformation about sleep. In other words, a lot of people still believe a lot of the common myths when it comes to getting a good nights sleep. These myths aren’t supported by current scientific evidence and are likely subtracting from your sleep health. In this episode we will cover what deep sleep is, the main processes associated with deep sleep and then we will finish off with some deep sleep blockers- that is, the things that you might be doing that are blocking your deep sleep.
