3: Shazia Awan on racism and xenophobia post-referendum

Race hate and xenophobia has skyrocketed in the months since the EU referendum. Shazia Awan, a Welsh Equality and Diversity Consultant, former Conservative Parliamentary candidate, and today’s guest, has experienced this first hand. Jen talks to her about racism within the UK’s political system, Zach Goldsmith’s divisive mayoral campaign as well as the abuse she has personally received and witnessed since that fateful day in June. The Remain campaigner also shares her opinion of what, if anything, can be done to elevate these tensions, which have led to a record number of verbal and physical assaults.
