3. The Parables of Jesus - Rejoicing in the Rebel’s Return

Isaiah 53:6 says “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.” The free gift he offers is eternal life through acknowledging our sin and turning in faith to Jesus. Every true believer has this story, so we can all relate to the prodigal in Jesus’ parable. Having received God’s grace, how welcoming are we to those in whom the Spirit is working to draw to Jesus? Do we frown in disgust or do we welcome the penitent sinner with open arms? We are called to have the mind and heart of Christ. Let’s learn from God’s heart and let Him live through us as a local church!
