3. Understanding Jesus - Jesus Brings Transformation

from Mitchell Berean Church - Podcast · host Jon Simpson

This weekend we continue in our series called "UNDERSTANDING JESUS". This series leads us up to Easter when we will celebrate the Resurrection of our savior Jesus. In order to understand Jesus we are exploring several chapters in the Gospel of John. This weekend we will study chapter 15 of John's gospel. In this chapter John reveals Jesus teaching regarding how the life He offers is to be lived. He emphasizes the connection we must maintain with Him. In order to live the life Jesus offers we must remain connected to Him in a meaningful way. Jesus uses the illustration of a vine. In order to produce fruit in our lives for God, we must stay connected to Jesus. This illustration is simple. In order to produce any good fruit in our lives for God, we must be connected to Him. Without that connection to Him, we will not be able to produce good fruit. The fruit Jesus helps us produce are things like; children who follow God, a healthy marriage, treating others like Jesus would, not holding any grievance against others, belonging to a church and having good relationships with other believers. Many people who say they follow Jesus can't get along with other others and this shows they are not connected to the vine. When we stay connected to Jesus, our lives will produce is good fruit and that will largely show up in our ability to get along with others. Join us this weekend when we dig into John chapter 15 and learn how to live the way Jesus wants us to live, by staying connected to Him.
