3. Yom Kippur Yizkor Sermon: "Unconditional Love --A Parent Primary Purpose"

Synopsis This sermon delves into the what is the primary function of a parent. They say that a child loved unconditionally by his mother, will grow up to be a conqueror. What exactly is “Unconditional Love”? A parent’s job is to make their position unnecessary in the life of their children. This is ultimate unconditional love. How is this done? An exploration into the Rebbe’s directive to his shluchim: “Connect the person with G-d, and get out of the way.” The primary job of a parent is to connect their child with the child’s “being-ness,” beyond the identity of their “doing-ness.” The primary words of the proclamation Shema may very well be, “Shema Yisroel.” We turn to our soul and say, “Hear! You are Yisroel!” The letters of Yisrael make up the words Lee Rosh -Unto Me a Head. G-d tells the person that, “Your soul is from the depths of My Being.”
