The reason being, is that he is someone that I share a lot of similar experiences with and someone I relate a lot to. Ewen is a CBC (Canadian Born Chinese) of Cantonese background with parents being from Hong Kong that immigrated to Canada during the 80s/90s period. Ewen is a Diaspora Asian with a linguistic background and passion for Cantonese (his heritage language). In our conversation, we talked about being CBC living in the area of Canada with a lot of Cantonese speakers and a lot about our diaspora feelings. We got into the discussion of preserving our heritage language (Cantonese) as Diaspora and what he plans to do with the Ontario Cantonese Heritage Language curriculum. Also, we touched on our motherland, Hong Kong, and all that is happening there (protest, social unrest, government issues, etc). To end it off, we talked about our favourite Hong Kong foods! Again, thanks for listening to another episode of What Kind of Asian Are You? Podcast!
