30. Running on empty

from Nobody Talks Hosted by Nobody

I'm burned out. And I'm not going to pretend otherwise. In this episode, I'm getting real about burnout — what it actually is, how it creeps up on you in stages, and why so many of us can't stop even when we're running on fumes. I pull from clinical research and the words of philosophers like Marcus Aurelius, Viktor Frankl, and Albert Camus to try to make sense of something that doesn't always make sense. But more than anything, I just talk about where I am right now. The loop I'm stuck in. The self-blame. The feeling that rest is something you have to earn. If you're exhausted and still showing up anyway — this one's for you. Running on Empty.

Patti Talks Too Much Patti Hi. I'm Patti and it's been said - many times - that I talk too much. I'm a teacher, author, nature lover and for ten years I owned a coffeehouse cafe where my faith in the goodness of humans was restored every day. This podcast highlights the awesomeness of humanity - er...outside the warmongers, globalists, tyrants and politicians in general. You know, the rest of us weird, quirky and sometimes hilarious humans. We'll talk woo, probe mysteries and leave you thinking about something more interesting or entertaining or uplifting than your grocery list, or boss or that oil change your car needs. I talk too much because I can't help my Gemini moon and Leo Rising nature. I do a podcast because it's cheaper, funnier and more productive than therapy. TED Talks Society and Culture Thought-provoking videos about life and being human, with ideas from business leaders, psychologists and researchers speaking onstage at the TED conference, TEDx events and partner events around the world. You can also download these and many other videos free on TED.com, with an interactive English transcript and subtitles in up to 80 languages. TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. The Future Of Work Collective Podcast Lucy Mundy Work isn't working anymore. The dissatisfaction people felt with the modern workplace was exacerbated by the pandemic, and nobody wants to be worse off after enjoying new freedoms and flexibilities. But bosses want people back in the office. Workers are striking for fairer conditions. Trust in staff is at an all time low. Economic pressures are in danger of pushing diversity, equity, and inclusion down the employment agenda. Bullying and stress are rife. We can't carry on like this. We need your help. Whether you're a cashier in Blackburn, an HR manager in Thurrock, or a farmer on Shetland - we need to listen to everyone about what the future of work should look like. This is a collective of people from different backgrounds, some of whom are experts in talking about work, and all of whom care about finding positive solutions. On our podcast, we discuss how we take action now to make work better for everyone.
