The weapons used and the confession of the perpetrator would shock and horrify the residents of this tiny close-knit Christian town. Perhaps the only thing more terrifying than the murders themselves were the reasons behind them. *NOTE: Technically, Deanna Laney lived in the town of New Chapel Hill, which is part of Tyler County.
