304: Are You in a Constant State of Self-Improvement?

from Woo Woo Wednesday · host Renee Dick

In this episode, I am talking about the importance of allowing time for personal development and growth to "marinate" rather than constantly seeking the next thing to fix or improve.  We can get so caught up in the constant pursuit of improvement that it prevents us from enjoying what's already working well. There is a different energy between using personal development as a "lifeline" out of discomfort and engaging in it out of genuine curiosity.  This is your reminder to slow down, embody what you're learning, and give new practices time to develop before moving on to the next thing, because true transformation takes time; it's not an instant gratification game. I'm a teacher, author, nature lover and for ten years I owned a coffeehouse cafe where my faith in the goodness of humans was restored every day. This podcast highlights the awesomeness of humanity - er...outside the warmongers, globalists, tyrants and politicians in general. You know, the rest of us weird, quirky and sometimes hilarious humans. We'll talk woo, probe mysteries and leave you thinking about something more interesting or entertaining or uplifting than your grocery list, or boss or that oil change your car needs. I talk too much because I can't help my Gemini moon and Leo Rising nature. I do a podcast because it's cheaper, funnier and more productive than therapy.  The Supreme Court Basketball Podcast Robaire Taylor, Chris Young, Henri Taylor Looking for entertaining basketball content without the drama? Lewis's The Last Battle St. Philip's Church: Charleston, SC Come join us on Wednesday nights as we explore the riches of C.S. Lewis’s marvelous book The Last Battle, which is the last of The Chronicles of Narnia. It is a remarkable book on multiple levels and was awarded the Carnegie Medal back in the 1950s when it was first published. The Last Battle has some themes in common with The Great Divorce and That Hideous Strength that will make it an excellent follow-up to those two books, and like them, it has some remarkable resonance with things going on in today’s culture. It is a book that is both theologically rich and poignantly beautiful in its writing, and it can help equip us to live boldly for Christ in a culture that has lost its way. (Although this book is the last of The Chronicles of Narnia, it can stand on its own and it is not necessary to have read the other books for this class.)
