In parliament, Opposition MP Jamus Lim suggested some government actions, like letting the currency appreciate, to counter the rising cost of living in Singapore. Sounds easy, but is it really? Also, Minister for National Development Desmond Lee stated that “by controlling rent, we could end up reducing the incentive for coffee shop owners to invest in improving their coffee shops to provide better services and facilities to customers”.
