畫說漢字/圖解《說文解字》/1000個漢字的故事/東漢許慎原著备（bèi）“备”是个会意字，本义是盛放箭矢的器具。甲骨文的“备”，中间是一支箭的形状，下方像是个容器，合起来就是将弓箭收放在这个容器之中，表示早已做好了准备。金文的字形和甲骨文相近。小篆的“备”，字形发生了讹变。楷书的“备”，又在小篆的基础上，在字形的左边加了人字旁。“备”后引申为警戒、警惕，正所谓“有备”才“无患”，未雨绸缪永远是一种智慧。（把箭放在容器中，随时做好准备，有备才能无患。）
