from Praktici

S profesorkou Leanne Rowe, australskou praktickou lékařkou hovoříme o syndromu vyhoření a o péči o zdraví lékařů samotných.Clinical Professor Leanne Rowe is a rural GP from Australia, a past chairman of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and Deputy Chancellor of Monash University. She is the coauthor of the 2nd edition of the book, Every Doctor: healthier doctors=healthier patients published by Taylor and Francis in 2023. She and her GP husband Dr Peter Jasek live in rural Australia with their black Labrador Myshka. They are members of The Czech Society of General Practice as they also live in Prague for about 2 months each year.We talk about stigmatisation of mental health problems and burnout syndrome and how it can be managed effectively. Why are we not using the same evidence-based standards for our own mental health as we do in general practice for our patients? What is the difference between burnout syndrome and mental injury? How do we provide better care for ourselves so we can be (even) better doctors for our patients? Is it O.K. to cry as a doctor? How to balance compassion and self-compassion? What are the specifics of doctors as parents? Self-care is not only beneficial, it is essential.Host: prof.
