So many of us long for something more out of life, something that feels just beyond our reach. Qoheleth sympathizes with us, and he thinks he knows who's to blame for our inability to find lasting happiness — God. God has prevented us from finding deeper meaning in life, and what's more, he's done it for the purpose of making us realize our own delusions of grandeur. At the end of the day, Qoheleth believes we are little different from the other animals God created; the only real distinction being that they seem to know how to enjoy the good life better than we do. So maybe the way we can be the most human is by accepting our animal nature. These are some of Qoheleth's most provocative claims, and they're sure to upset many Christians.
