Hagar literally had no rights and found herself in a desperate situation, pregnant with Abraham's child. She ran away to the wilderness. She would rather die than face her terrible dilemma. The angel of the Lord met her there and comforted her. She found her hope in God in the midst of her deepest struggle. He promised to make her descendants so numerous through her son. He sent her back to her mistress. When Abraham and Sarah later cast her out of their home again and into the wilderness, the angel of the Lord showed her the way by directing her to water and a way to safety for her son and her.When we cannot, He can.
