31. Men's Mental Health Awareness Week and 'Reasons to Stay Alive' by Matt Haig
from Happy Little Futures · host Lucie Worthington
It is Men's Mental Health Awareness Week this week. Whilst Men's Mental Health Awareness is becoming more easily spoken about, it doesn't mean that those who are close to men struggling are necessarily aware of what is going on, or even a man themself is aware. Following on from this I talk about a fantastic book I have recently read "Reasons to Stay Alive" by Matt Haig. This is about his lived experience of depression and anxiety. The impacts on his life, mind and body. The signs he noticed in retrospect of having got to a place where he was struggling with them. If you are looking to gain a better insight into what someone may be going through when struggling with mental health, I could not recommend this book enough. Even better, as a parent the chapters are short so it is much easier to keep track of where you are in the book! In addition to this excitement we have our first ever Podcast Sponsor! Rowan Fox is an organic clothing brand for kids who love animals. Founded by my artist friend Pamela, she created Rowan Fox to provide colourful, nature inspired clothing that is ethically made and sustainable. Your clothes are produced in renewable powered factories and are sent to you in plastic free packaging.
