Before recently becoming a member of the sheriff's office, Deputy Mubarak was an interpreter for the U.S. Military in Afghanistan. Deputy Mubarak was born in a rural part of Eastern Afghanistan, and his father encouraged him to become an interpreter for the U.S. Military in 2002. Deputy Mubarak speaks eloquently about the American ideals of family, education and hard work. Learn about the history of Afghanistan, his journey supporting the Marines during America's longest war as well as the difficult time his family recently experienced with the Taliban takeover and his family's treacherous, but ultimately safe, journey to the United States.
