31-story apartment and retail space proposed at building adorned with Phillies mural

A building that's home to a 3,700-square-foot Phillies mural could become housing for hundreds of people. The developer PMC wants to put up an apartment tower where a vacant industrial building and parking garage now stand at 24th and Walnut streets. The plan is for 372 units in 31 stories, along with an outdoor pool and retail space. The Philadelphia Business Journal reports the proposal requires approval from City Council and Mayor Cherelle Parker because it seeks a legislative zoning change. It's unclear what would happen with the mural on the building's west side. It celebrates Phillies history, including the 1980 and 2008 World Series. A lawyer for PMC told the Business Journal that they're open to figuring out what to do with it.
