On January 6th 1939 Joe Arridy was executed. He was noted as the happiest man on death row. He died smiling, and spent his 21 months on death row playing with his toy train. Joe was 23 going on six. He had an IQ of 46 and was manipulated into giving a false confession by the police. It would take 72 years for Joe, a mentally disabled man, to be pardoned.
