Moby Dick 14 sextant 六分儀; 圓的六分之一 (2 1 4) Ahab lost his senses speaking to the sun complaining sun didn't help as well as his sailing tools. Typhoon came. The sails were torn. Masts were on fire. Ahab evoked that the fire was a Godsent for him to find Moby Dick. One harpoon hung on the bow of one whaleboat caught fire too. Sailors were terrified by sight of the burning harpoon. Ahab warned everyone they had taken oath when they were enlisted onto Pequod. Ahab blew out harpoon's fire. Sailors were horrified by Ahab for the first time. Starbuck suggested Stubb to mutiny. Eventually Starbuck didn't change the course but continued Pequod's original route. Starbuck thought Ahab would be the murderer of these thirty men. Starbuck hesitated if he should shoot Ahab in his sleep or not. Starbuck didn't shoot Ahab. Sailors heard wailing passing through group of islands. One of the lookouts fell overboard. Ahab ordered a lifebuoy be thrown onto the fallen sailor in the sea. The lifebuoy cracked due to too much scorching from the sun. The lifebuoy sank as well as the lookout sailor. No barrel was small or light enough to replace the broken lifebuoy. Queequeg suggested his coffin could replace the buoy. It was already the several bad omens for Pequod. A Nantucket whale ship Rachel came. Captain Gardner went onboard to ask for Ahab's help to search for his 12-year-old son. Seamen whispered that the boy was already dead because they heard the wailing already. Ahab refused even to help his acquaintance Captain Gardner. Gardner returned with disbelief. All Pequod crew set their minds only to one thing now: killing of Moby Dick. Moby Dick was nowhere to be found. Ahab decided he would do the lookout himself. Ahab made a net to protect himself while he was on the lookout post. Ahab chose no one but Starbuck to help him ascend to the lookout post. Ahab opened his chest to talk to Starbuck about his 40 years of whaling and his regrets of life.
