白鯨記大結局 Without any sight of Moby Dick, Ahab realized he had sailed too fast since Moby Dick was slowed by all the strappings they made him yesterday. Starbuck regretted he felt that he was disobeying God when he obeyed Ahab. By turning round, Pequod now caught up with Moby Dick. Before Ahab went hunting Moby Dick, he called upon Starbuck and said he had started upon this hunting voyage for the third time. Ahab advised Starbuck not to choose this profession. Ahab shook hands with Starbuck. Starbuck once again bade Ahab not to go. Ishmael was on Ahab's boat, replacing Fedallah's place. When boat was in the water, sailors from Pequod shouted "Sharks!" Sharks were usually seen on whale-hunting grounds. But sharks followed only Ahab's boat and neither of the other two. Moby Dick came up from underneath, pulling mountains of water along with it. Moby Dick went for the other two boats and not Ahab's. When Moby Dick swam back, everyone saw the whole of one of his sides. Fedallah's corpse was tied tightly by harpoon lines on Moby Dick's body. F's eyes stared straight at old Ahab. Ahab realized F's prophesy. Ahab ordered the two boats to row back to Pequod, while warned his boat if the crew jumped off, he will harpoon him. Starbuck advised the fourth time: "Moby Dick is not hunting you. It is you who are madly hunting him. It is not too late, even now on the third day, to stop!" As our boat rowed passed Pequod, I saw Tashtego, Queequeg, Daggoo on mastheads, Flask, Stubb collecting harpoons and lances. Ahab challenged sharks to eat him tonight or Moby Dick. Ahab chanced to be at Moby Dick's side. Ahab flung his harpoon with all his strength. Moby crashed the other two boats. Ahab wanted to row to Moby but the harpoon line snapped. Moby was freed and turned around and saw Pequod for the first time. Moby started swimming angrily straight toward Pequod. Moby was crashing Pequod. Ahab confessed and prayed to God not to let Starbuck die. Moby sank Pequod. Moby swam back at Ahab. Ahab made a last throw of harpoon. Harpoon got tangled with lines and pulled Ahab with it together onto the bottom of the sea. Moby made a great whirlpool which engulfed Pequod, sailors, three harpooneers, everything into it. ---------------------------- I, Ishmael was left outside the circle of the whirlpool.
