Je bent vast al eens een vreemd filmpje van een politicus of celebrity tegengekomen: ze doen een schokkende uitspraak, hun ogen knipperen op een onnatuurlijke manier en hun zinnen lijken niet helemaal synchroon te lopen met de bewegingen van hun mond. Bij wat meer onderzoek blijk je op nepvideo gestuit te zijn: gemanipuleerde video & audio, om iets te creëren wat niet echt gebeurd is.Dave & Harm duiken in de wereld van deze deepfakes en komen tot de conclusie dat het fenomeen zich inmiddels al veel verder strekt dan enkel bekende mensen. Juist op individueel niveau kan deze vorm van desinformatie veel schade aanrichten in de vorm van ‘sextortion’ of het aftroggelen van geld.Director van het KPMG-cyberteam Michiel van Veen staat de heren bij en legt uit dat deze manier van oplichten valt onder ‘social engineering’.
