32. Chukas 5799: Logical Obedience: Having A Thorough Relationship with G-d

More than ever, this has become a modern-day issue. While, since the birth of man, and then the evolution of his power of knowledge, our struggle in understanding the ground rules of having a relationship with G-d has been a modern-day issue. However, then the struggle may have been more of science questioning the very existence of a G-d. Today, with the development of Quantum Physics, and so much unprecedented technology of scientific exploration, the modern-day issue, has for many shifted from the “if” to the “how,” in which the question is less so of if there is a G-d to the question of how is one to have a relationship with G-d. Thus, this lecture will be targeting on the majority of the people, who’s belief in G-d, at its lowest is agnostic, and for those who, as a prelude to religion, want to establish a spiritual relationship with G-d. With this being said, this lecture will not be putting an effort in proving that G-d exists, nor will it be putting an effort on emphasizing the necessity for an organized religion. Rather, it will be putting all its efforts in establishing a foundation for a thorough spiritual relationship with G-d. What I mean by this is the balance and mutual inclusivity between, “A G-d that I can fully understand cannot be my G-d,” and, “I need to know what is it that I believe in.” This lecture is based primarily on a maamor the Rebbe delivered on this Shabbat, in 1965, exploring the mystical secrets behind the statute of the Red Cow.
