from The Addiction Connection Podcast · host theaddictionconnection

Special Guest: Larry Ganschow, a Christ-follower who now serves Reigning Grace Counseling Center as the Addictions Services Director. www.rgcconline.org He also is a Commissioned Addictions Biblical Counselor with The Addiction Connection. Dr. Mark E. Shaw asks Larry about Step 3. Their discussion centers around how the Bible speaks into the lives of God’s people who have been addicted and are addicted, and how the Twelve Steps sometimes contradict what God says in His Word. Step 3: Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him. https://aa.org/pages/en_US/read-the-big-book-and-twelve-steps-and-twelve-traditions Larry details the results of his addictions. God answered His cry out to Him, after childhood drinking, his use and selling of marijuana and cocaine which led to his arrest – even a S.W.A.T. team and a shotgun up against his head. After his stay in the Halfway House, he had an epiphany in which he wept and gnashed his teeth and decided that he would spend the rest of his life living sober and trying to help others get sober – and that was August of 1985. He’s been doing it ever since. Larry’s thoughts about Step 3 – which he calls his favorite step to stay sober.
