32. How Henry George inspired the American progressive movement

Dr. O’Donnell earned his bachelor’s degree from Holy Cross College and his Ph.D. in American history from Columbia. He is currently a history professor at Holy Cross, where he specializes in American and urban history. Dr. O’Donnell is the author of several books including "Henry George and the Crisis of Inequality," "Visions of America," and many more. He has had many appearances on TV and even has his own podcast, "In the Past Lane," where he explores history through interviews and featured pieces. Dr. Lough, who you may remember from our previous episode, earned her Ph.D. from Brandeis University in American history specializing in cultural, political, and social movements. Her dissertation was titled "The Last Tax: Henry George and the Social Politics of Land Reform." Dr. Lough is the former director of the Henry George Birthplace, Archive, and Historical Center. She is the author of "The Annotated Works of Henry George," a commentary on George’s seminal works: "Social Problems" (1883) and "The Condition of Labor" (1891).
