32. Jason Flack: Pulling inspiration from comics, cartoons, and the city he calls home

from Johnson City Living · host Colin Johnson

This week my guest is Jason Flack. Jason was born and raised in Johnson City and is a working artist. In today’s episode Jason shares the story of how he discovered his talents at a very early age, and honed his craft by pulling inspiration from the cartoons, comic books, and epic movies of his childhood. I really enjoyed this chat with Jason, because he’s not a guy who’s afraid to be honest and real. In the interview you’ll hear him talk about the tension around creating art that makes a statement and how that impacts earning a living as an artist. He’s also a passionate advocate for local artists, and isn’t afraid to make his voice heard when he sees an opportunity to advance the works of local artists. I’ll wrap up by saying Jason is also a very generous guy, and even indulged me when I asked if he’d sketch something on my whiteboard in the studio.
