Join me as I have a conversation with Walt Larimore about his book, At First Light, which recounts his father's adventures during WWII. The book provides a glimpse into the life of Phil Larimore, who grew up in Memphis, Tennessee during the 1930s. Despite struggling academically, Phil was an accomplished Boy Scout with exceptional survival skills, including map reading and horseback riding. After enrolling in a military academy, Phil realized his true calling was to serve his country during the war. He became the youngest candidate ever to graduate from Officer Candidate School just three weeks before his 18th birthday. Phil was assigned to lead an Ammunition Pioneer Platoon in the 3rd Infantry Division after landing on the Anzio beachhead in February 1944. Their crucial task was to deliver ammunition to the troops on the front lines, which meant they had to brave enemy fire regularly. As Phil fought his way up the Italian boot, into southern France, and across the Rhine River into Germany, he found himself in some of the most intense combat ever. His bravery earned him numerous Army medals. After fifteen months of frontline warfare, Phil was selected for a top-secret mission to locate Hitler's hidden Lipizzaner horses, which were world-famous. The prospect of this mission filled Phil with excitement. Phil's story is truly remarkable and heartwarming, especially during the final stages of the war and his return home. At First Light is an emotional account of bravery, fearlessness, and valor that will reignite your belief in the unbreakable human spirit that resides within each of us. And you can tell how much love Walt has for in father in this chat. Helpful Links: Grab At First Light https://amzn.to/3nng1oA www.DrWalt.com
