326. Parenting Principles: Helping Our Children Live with Generosity

Welcome back to the kitchen table. Instead of just teaching our kids to share, what if we encouraged them to be givers? There’s a powerful shift that happens when we teach our children to look beyond themselves and to think about the joy of giving. When children face those moments where they don’t want to give up their toy or share their snack, it’s the perfect opportunity for a lesson in perspective. We can ask them to imagine themselves as the one wanting the toy or waiting for a turn. This simple shift aligns with what we see in Matthew 5:38, where Jesus encourages us to turn the other cheek — a powerful reversal of our natural instincts. This mindset helps our children see beyond their immediate wants and think about the needs of others.
