Tales of Great Heroes 8 Perseus's son Electryon had one daughter called Alcmena. Electryon's nephew Amphitryon went fighting for Electryon's stolen cows and Alcmena's hand. Amphitryon accidentally killed Electryon. Thebes king Creon bade Amphitryon to kill the Teumessian fox set by Dionysus. Zeus was thinking to trick Alcmena into giving birth to a god-like son. Zeus disguised as Amphitryon and pregnated Alcmena. Hera was so jealous that she made a baby boy Eurystheus to rule over Argolis according to Zeus's promise. Zeus found out Hera's vicious plan. He threw Hera's daughter Ate out of Heaven to be the cause of wars. Ate landed near the city of Troy where the worst war that Greece had ever seen took place. Because of Hera's jealousy, Hercules was born one day late. An hour later his twin brother, Iphicles was also born. When the two babies were 10 months old, Hera sent two giant blue snakes to kill the baby Hercules. Baby Iphicles screamed in fear. Baby Hercules smiled and grabbed a snake in each hand and squeezed them on the spot. Alcmena now realized that her son was not born by human. She went to see the prophet Tiresias, who told him Zeus was the father of Hercules and who would turn out to be the savior of Olympian gods and one day be seated among gods too.
