Tales of Great Heroes 9 Hercules was grown enough to choose his life path. Lady Vice persuaded Hercules to choose her way of life. Lady Virtue advised Hercules not to listen to Vice but choose Virtue instead. A huge yellow lion ran at Hercules's cows. H jumped up and chased the lion without avail. King Thestius was the king of the city of Mount Cithaeron. Thestius had 50 daughters. Hercules stayed at Thestius's valley for 50 nights. H made a large club out of an olive tree and walked bravely into the den. H killed the lion with his olive club and strip the lion of its skin and always wore it as his cloak. On H's way back to Thebes, H met King Eriginus's messenger who asked for ransom of the weapons they took last time they conquered Thebes. H insulted Eriginus. Eriginus sent army to capture H. H killed E and took E's small city for King Creon. Amphitryon was killed in the battle with Eriginus. Alcmena lived quietly in Thebes for the rest of her life. King Creon married his daughter Megara to H. H had 3 sons whom he loved very much. Years passed and H did nothing to further strengthen himself. Zeus felt unsure of H. Hera pursued with her old grudge. She demanded H to be a slave of Eurystheus. Zeus agreed on condition that H had only to fulfill 10 labours of Eurystheus's will. Hera cooked up a plan. She made H lost his mentality temporarily and shot his three beloved sons with his own arrows. Athena, secretly assigned by Zeus to protect H, knocked H down in a swoon. When H awoke, he realized he had been the toy of the gods and he was ashamed to be at the place where he murdered his own children. King Thestius told H to go to Apollo's temple to ask for the redemptions to his crimes. H left Thebes forever. His wife Megara died already of a broken heart. At Delphi, Apollo advised H to go to Eurystheus and serve him with humility and honesty. So H went off to Argolis with his nephew Iolaus to find Eurystheus. -- Hosting provided by SoundOn
