Tales of Great Heroes 10 Eurystheus the coward king's first task: the Nemean Lion The lion was fallen from the moon with toughest skin. With good attitude, a shepherd showed H the shortest way to the den. H's arrow couldn't enter the skin nor did H's sharp sword. H remembered his killing of the Cithaeron lion and started to club the Nemean. Nemean Lion growled into its den. H choked the lion to death. Lion bit off one of H's fingers. Second task: Lernean Hydra Hydra was a huge sea snake with nine heads in Lerne Lake. Athena advised H to shoot fire arrows into her cave first, and not to breathe in battle. Also the head at the center is imperishable. H's nephew Iolaus helped scorch the necks of Hydra so that the new heads didn't keep coming out. H cut off the immortal head and buried it under huge rocks. H smeared Hydra's poison on his arrow heads. Third task: Hind of the Golden Horns Hind was Artemis's beloved deer. H didn't want to harm the deer. H succeeded in catching the hind but Artemis protested it's her deer. H promised A he would return it to A. Fourth task: Erymanthian Boar H met centaur--a man with body and legs of a horse. The centaur Pholus was kind to invite H to his cave. Pholus opened a strong wine for all the guest centaurs and H to drink. All the guests were so intoxicated that everyone started attacking H. H shot the guests with his poisoned arrows. Pholus was also hurt by the poison arrow and died. H buried the good Pholus. H tied the boar back to see Eurystheus. H set the boar free at the seaside which swam all the way to Italy. Fifth task: Cleaning the Cow Shed of King Augeus H borrowed 1 tenth of King Augeus's cows and engineered a path through the barn. H used river to flush through the barn and the barn was cleaned. Sixth task: Chasing Away the Stymphalian Birds Athena helped to make a loud noise that scared away the dangerous birds to island of Artetias. Seventh task: Cretan Bull King Minas was delighted for H to capture the bull away. H captured the bull and seeing Eurystheus, H set the bull free. The bull ran North and stopped at Marathon.
