På Kulturen i Lund finns en stor vapensamling som innehåller tusentals vapen. Många av dem är utställda i utställningen Makt över liv. Här finns två världsunika Colt-revolvrar från 1850-talet. Dessa båda är tillverkade i Hartford i Connecticut och tillhör en begränsad upplaga revolvrar som senare kom att användas under det amerikanska inbördeskriget. Det här gör att militärhistoriker Johan Romin och stadshistoriker Peter K Andersson får anledning att komma in på det faktum att USA kastades ut i ett blodigt inbördeskrig 1861-1865. Varför bröt kriget ut? Var det slaveriet man kämpade om, eller fanns det andra orsaker till kriget? Vilka var de viktigaste historiska händelsen som ledde fram till det blodigaste kriget i USA:s historia? Och vilken roll spelade presidenten Abraham Lincoln och Colt-revolvrarna i Kulturens monter?
