33. Parenting "Seasons" and What's It's Like When Your Child Regresses
from aVERY BRIGHT LIFE · host Lisa Thornbury
This week's episode was going to be something light hearted. But in an effort to keep it real, I did an abrupt about face and changed the topic completely because I’m not feeling particularly light hearted today. I’m actually feeling a little heavy hearted to be honest. This episode is about how it feels when your intellectually disabled child regresses, cognitively. Not a particularly fun topic, but I think it's an important one. I feel like there might be traces of toxic positivity and ableism in this episode. I hope not, but maybe? I'm working hard to check myself because internalized ableism runs deep. And when it comes to advocating for my daughter, sometimes I can't see it. Annnnyway, enjoy! LOL!
