Tales of Great Heroes 13 Zeus meant for Hercules to free Prometheus. Hercules had to free Prometheus first then ask P how to find the Golden Apples. H shot the eagle who pecked P every day with only one shot of arrow. H told P to wear Z's ring on the finger forever to show that P is tied to Z. Golden Apples grew on the tree that was a wedding present to Hera by mother Earth. The tree grew in the magic garden near Atlas's mountain. Dragon Ladon was at the bottom of the tree. The garden were inhabited by three of Hesperus's daughters, who were immortal. Alongside of this task, H also fought Antaeus, who is son of Earth. H had to hold him over head and held Antaeus in midair for a long time to squeezed him to death. Atlas needed H to take over sky for him to get the golden apples for H. Atlas needed H also to kill dragon Ladon otherwise he couldn't have touched those apples. H aimed at Ladon with just an arrow and finished the dragon in no time. Atlas then went to get those golden apples. Upon returning, Atlas expressed it's really relieving to get sky off his shoulders just for a change. Hercules read between the lines and tricked Atlas back by saying A is a better carrier than he is and would Atlas please consent to teach him how to carry the sky on the shoulder. Atlas was said to be so gullible that he immediately consented to teacher Hercules how to carry. Upon exchanging, H was freed from A's post. On island of Rhodes, H was so hungry he ate a whole cow. 12.Hades's three-headed hound: Cerberus (= Cerebus) Eurystheus needed H to finish the last task, Hades's three-headed hound, Cerebus. Zeus heard it all and sent Athena and Hermes to protect H. Hermes went wirh H to river Styx. Paying Charon one coin, they were ferried across river Styx. H witnessed the gruesome pictures of people tortured for their sins. H came to Hades and Persephone. H begged them to let him take Cerberus. Hades agreed on condition that H beat C without using any weapon. Hercules and Cerebus ran at each other and started fighting. Hercules put his strong arms around C, closing them tighter and tighter. Cerebus tried to bite H but H was protected by his lion-skin cloak. At the end, Cerebus gave up fighting and went with H. H took Cerebus to Eurystheus. Eurystheus was so coward that he dare not receive Hera's belongings as a gift. H took C back to Hades. H was finally free. H visited friend Pittheus, king of Troezen.
