from Pulpit Fiction Podcast

NOTES AND COMMENTARY Amos 8:1-12 Luke 10:38-42 Psalm 52 Colossians 1:15-28 VOICE IN THE WILDERNESS: Renee Roederer Facebook @renee_roederer Smuggling Grace Blog: https://reneeroederer.com/ PSALMIST IN THE FIELD Twitter:@pomopsalmist Web:psalmimmersion.com Support: Patreon.com/RichardBC SUMMARY The reading from Luke is the story of Mary and Martha, as Mary sits at the feet of the teachers and Martha tries to provide hospitality. Both are important aspects of discipleship (remember the Good Samaritan from last week?), so don't try to pit Mary and Martha against each other. Jesus condemns neither, but exalts Mary for infiltrating a man's world. The letter to the Colossians contains a word of peace and grace to an anxious people. It is not about condemning the Colossians for their apostasy, but encouraging them in their anxiety.
