Tales of Great Heroes 16 A voice called to Jason that he had to go to Island of Aeaea for the Enchantress Circe, Medea's aunt, to clean them of their crimes. Near Aeaea there was another island called Capri, on which lived the Sirens. Sirens were once women but now they were women with feet and tails of birds and had wings. Sirens sang sweetly that anyone who heard them would forget everything else and jump into the sea and swim to find them. Then Sirens would catch them and kill them. If there were any one unscathed, people say Sirens would kill themselves. When Argonauts came close to Capri, Medea asked Orpheus to play his harp and sing. Argonauts were the first to get past Sirens unscathed. Sirens jumped off the cliff and died. Jason wedded Medea and they came to Crete. King Minos had a gift from gods that was a man made of metal called Talos. The new Crete King Deucalion begged Argonauts to help him destroy Talos. Medea had plans to kill Talos. Medea tricked Talos by saying she could make him king of the world but he had to marry Medea. Medea said Talos had some ichor--god's blood--but still he is not immortal but she could make him one. Medea asked Talos to let her land with one man. Medea brought Poeas the archer with her. Poeas hid himself among the bushes waiting for his time to strike. Medea was busy making a magic drink. Talos started to become wearisome of his nail in the ankle which stopped the ichor from coming out of his body. Talos drank Medea's sleeping potion and got very dizzy. Poeas took out his godly bow and with one arrow shot Talo's nail out of Talo's foot. So his ichor came gushing out and that was the end of Talo the metal man. Argo sailed to Iolcus where Jason's hometown was. Jason's father died and the Jason's uncle Pelias now ruled over Iolcus. Medea told Pelias's daughters she could make their father young again. She told them to cut up their father's body and put the pieces into a pot. The daughters did but Pelias was dead because Medea didn't teach them the incantations needed. Medea and Jason were banished from the land Iolcus. Medea killed her two sons and ran away. Jason was killed by Argo's piece of wood coming down from the bow. -- Hosting provided by SoundOn
